Sharing and Making Memories

Do you remember the first book you "read"?

For me it was I Am A Bunny by Richard Scary.
I didn't really read it, but had memorized the words enough that I would pretend to read it to my Mom.  I can remember sitting in her lap in a rocking chair and reading. Now that I have three kids I hope they will all have those memories of me as well.  I've read many, many books and most of them more than once over the last 17 years with my kids.

This is why I love our baby book baskets.  Board books are durable and last through baby and toddler years.  But best of all they help you make memories together.  If books are always a part of life then reading will always be a part of the child's life too.

Book Bouquet has Peter Rabbit, Corduroy Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Sophie The Giraffe just waiting to meet baby and make friends.  The next time you are celebrating the miracle of birth send a gift that makes memories.  The lucky recipients will love the memories they create with them.

Stress Free Holiday Gifts

As the joys of the holiday season fast approach so do the stresses of the season.  One of the biggest anxieties is the age old pressure to give everyone on your list the “right” present.  The best gifts are the ones that show you “get” the person who receives it.  Add up everyone on your list and it can be very overwhelming.

Here are five creative tips to conquer holiday gift giving stress:

Tip 1 – Make a list and check it twice.  Five minutes planning will save you hours of fruitless searching.  Download a holiday helper list like the one at http://www.bookbouquet.com/hohegili.html and list names, budget amounts and gift ideas for everyone you’ll be shopping for this year.

Tip 2 – Hobbies and activities are great clues about what a person loves.  Gift expert, Kim Shanahan recommends books about topics like cooking, photography, travel or whatever their “thing” is.  The great thing about books is they cover every topic under the sun, and make thoughtful gifts.  You can even get a custom book themed gift at www.BookBouquet.com.

Tip 3 – Follow their passion by giving a gift that matches their beliefs.  If they are into recycling, going green, saving the whales gift them with something that matches.   With the Natural Resources Defense Council https://www.nrdcgreengifts.org/  you can plant a tree in a rain forest, adopt a wolf in Yellowstone or protect polar bears.

Tip 4 – Take advantage of their circumstances.  New baby, new house, new job…if there is a major life change you can give a gift that revolves around that.

Tip 5 - Use their facebook page for gift ideas.  When you read their wall what are they talking about?  A new book, new movie, favorite tv show, diet, exercise?  You can get a lot of gift ideas just by doing a quick wall scan.

What your favorite scents do for you

You can change your mood (or the mood of someone you know) just by breathing in the right scent.

Lavender has been used since ancient times for muscle relaxation, cleanliness and healing. That's why we think our Serenity Gift Baskets are a thoughtful get well gift especially for anyone with aches and pains.  All natural bath and body products in this line have a relaxing blend of five fold orange and lavender essential oils to promote health and healing.

Citrus scents like grapefruit and orange are great for a pick me up.  They make you feel awake and happier.  Our Rise and Shine Spa and Book Baskets would be perfect for a Happy Birthday gift.  Send your best wishes and a dose of happiness every time they take a bath or shower!

Lavender and vanilla scents are both made to promote relaxation. By combining them you get a light and lovely scent that immediately calms and promotes stress relief.  That's why this combo is perfect for our Mother's Love bath basket.

A Book and a bath go together like sand in your shorts and baby powder

If you've been to the beach or lake this summer you know what we're talking about!  And if you don't here's a tip: bring baby powder to the beach and when you get back to your vehicle pour the baby powder over the dry sand that is stuck on you.  When you wipe it off the sand comes off too.
Serenity Spa Book and Bath Basket

Speaking of baby powder our book and bath gift baskets are great for those August and September birthdays.

We use Homespun Naturals bath products exclusively.  They are made in Missouri from all natural ingredients.  No animal testing, no harsh detergents or synthetic chemicals, and paraben free.

Book Bouquet only uses high quality bath products because we won't give a gift we wouldn't want to receive ourselves!  I have sensitive skin and don't trust it to anything with harsh chemicals or unknown origins!
Deluxe Love and Kisses Spa Basket

Our bath and book gift baskets comes in a range of prices to fit your budget.

You can choose from great hardcover books including Fern Michaels, Lisa Jackson, Tami Hoag, Catherine Coulture just to name a few.

Refresh Spa Box

You can feel good about sending a bath and book basket from Book Bouquet for get well gifts, birthday gifts, retirement or even housewarming.  Ladies how much would you love a Realtor who gave you a bath and book basket instead of a coffee mug, right!

Puzzled about what to give for a get well gift?

Get Well Toolkit

Buying a get well gift for a sick friend or co-worker doesn’t have to involve guess work and pulling your hair out.  Puzzle book baskets are the right mix of boredom busting entertainment and the personal touch you want in a get well gift.  Everyone appreciates a puzzle book, and at Book Bouquet we offer a variety of puzzle book baskets for men, women and kids that make ideal get well gifts.

Puzzle book baskets are available in all price points, and you can be sure a Book Bouquet get well gift will be entertaining and appreciated.  One of the most difficult things when sick is handling the bed rest, and boredom!  Puzzle book baskets keep the mind entertained and engaged and offer a respite from boredom.  Many hospitals have rules against flowers and food gifts.  Puzzle book baskets are a great no-food alternative for traditional get well gifts.

Boredom Buster
Combine four puzzle books, funny fortune cookies and a get well balloon and you have the cure for boredom, and Book Bouquet’s most popular gift basket, “The Boredom Buster”.  With a retail price of $39.95 this mid-priced get well gift has been stamping out boredom since 1998.  Our puzzle book baskets come with crosswords, word searches, Sudoku and variety puzzle books to keep anyone entertained.

No Food Gift Basket
When you send a get well gift you are sending your best wishes too.  At Book Bouquet we don’t take that lightly.  Our get well gifts have been designed with the patient’s needs in mind.  We include pens and pencils because we know they may not have them at their bedside in a hospital.  We include a mix of puzzles, because we know people like different kinds of challenges.  Our puzzle book baskets come with food or the choice of no food because not every patient can have gourmet items.

The next time you need a get well gift look no further than www.BookBouquet.com where get well gifts are our specialty.  Men, women and kids all enjoy receiving a boredom busting puzzle book basket from Book Bouquet when in need of a get well gift.

Read Pres. and Mrs. Obama's Favorite books and our favorite books by them

In celebration of Inauguration Day today we thought we would highlight the fact that both the president and first lady are published authors.

Let's start with Michelle Obama's "American Grown".  As a trendsetting first lady we love that a trend she is pushing is home grown, organic and healthy eating.  It's a message everyone can agree on.  "American Grown" features gardening tips and recipes for using the fruits of your labor.
There is also a kids book called "First Garden the White House Garden and How It Grew", if you are looking for a gift for the garden loving child.

As for what is on Michelle's nightstand we understand she likes to read with her daughters.  One of the books they have read this year is "Life of Pi", maybe in anticipation of seeing the big screen version in the White House theater.

President Obama has written two best sellers, "Audacity of Hope" and "Dreams of My Father".  Both autobiographical in nature.  But I believe his best work is the book he wrote for his Daughters, "Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters".  He sings the praises of thirteen unique Americans who have lived inspired lives, including artist Georgia O'Keefe, athlete, Jackie Robinson, and president, George Washington.  This is a wonderful gift to share with the children in your life.

As for his reading list President Obama is a known avid reader.  What was on his nightstand last week is probably already finished and the next book begun.  However we have some of his known favorites to highlight here: Ernest Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls", Toni Morrison's "Song of Solomon", John Steinbeck's "In Dubious Battle", Taylor Branch "Parting the Waters" just to name a few.
